Passive House is the only internationally recognized, performance-based energy standard in construction. Dörken offers two Certified Passive House Consultants (CPHC) — one certified by Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) and one certified by the North American Passive House Network (NAPHN), which uses German Passivhaus Standards). That means Dörken can assist in the design of any Passive House, no matter the standards chosen by the architect. Furthermore, Dörken serves on the Manufacturers’ Council for PHIUS, an advisory board that helps simplify details and aids in making Passive House more mainstream.
Since 2012, PHIUS has worked on delivering a standard that would make it easier and more practical for professionals to deliver ambitious, performance-based, energy-efficient designs. Passive House principles aren’t mandated by official building codes but a Passive House build using DELTA® products can be code compliant while being very energy-efficient and extremely comfortable. In fact, buildings designed and built to the PHIUS+ 2015 Passive Building Standard consume 86% less energy for heating and 46% less energy for cooling (depending on climate zone and building type) when compared to a standard code-compliant building.
Dörken is committed to supporting energy-efficient, high-performance buildings. We are involved with several Passive House events this year:
• NY Passive House (NYPH) Conference: June 16, 2017
• Half-day Passive House Event for ROXUL EDC days in NYC: Fall 2017
• Commercial Passive House event with ROXUL: details to be determined
Check out the events section of our website to learn more and come visit us at NYPH, booth 35, to see how we can help with your Passive House build!
