The Problem

Planning for fire safety is a necessary step in tunnel construction. Drainage boards and membranes used in tunnels are often made of polyethylene, a material that is prone to fire and smoke. A flame retardant will prevent dangerous fires and smoke from accumulating and spreading in a tunnel.

The Solution

DELTA®-MS B1 is a dimpled membrane specifically designed for tunnel ceiling and wall application. It meets the stringent requirements of the DIN 4102 B-1 non-combustible standard, and is therefore ideally suited to drainage applications in tunnel construction projects with specific fire hazard regulations.

Product Benefits
  • Dimpled membrane
  • Composed of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and flame retardants
  • Acts as an effective drainage layer for seepage water emerging from the rock substrate
  • A dimple pattern membrane creates an air gap at the foundation wall that allows any water getting past the dimpled plastic sheet to fall freely to the footer drain
  • Impermeable to water and water vapor
  • Impervious to acids and other agents
  • Tough, resilient and durable – has an expected service life of more than 50 years
